Dear HWOODTX,
First, it is easier for users if you paste the address of the Ebay page in your posting (see below). Not a lot of people will take the time to go to Ebay, go to the item etc.. It may sound picky but if people can't do it fast, a lot of people don't do it at all, on the net.
I have never seen the conductor model with a Mickey dial.
the seller is a contributor to this board. Perhaps they can provide some documentation ro more information.
If I think an item is fake, I pass on it and let someone else get stuck with it.
Perhaps others can give their opinion on this one?

I know that Westclox did make a Mickey Mouse pocket watch for Bradley in the mid 1970's.
The dial does state Bradley even though the movement is Westclox.
I am not familiar with any Conductor model made with Mickey on it.
Roy, please post your ad, so we all know that it is real and we don't make this mistake again.
The box of the Conductor states Westclox but the dial states Bradley???
Need proof to clarify this up....
Until then, it will have to stay listed as fake.

After studying the Westclox catalogs from 1970 - 1982, and consulting with a collector who knows watches better than I do, I have come to the following conclusion about this watch:
In my opinion, this watch is a "marriage" of two items. There are at least two possible ways in which it was made.
1) It is the dial and movement of the Mickey Mouse watch that Westclox made for Bradley in the late 1960's or early 1970's, installed in the case of "The Conductor", model #40077, in the original box to "The conductor"
2) It is the complete Westclox-Bradley Mickey Mouse watch less the back, with the back from "The Conductor" model 40077 in the box to "The Conductor".
Also, think about it logically: Why would a "Railroad" watch have a Mickey Mouse dial? The two just don't belong together. The box to a Mickey Mouse watch would display Mickey Mouse. |

Correction to my previous post:
Roy sent me a scan of a Bradley advertisement (from a book which dates it 1974). It shows four Mickey Mouse pocket watches.
Model 6899 - Polished chrome. Red sweep second hand
Model 6936 - Chrome. Small red second hand
Model 6938 - Yellow case with matching chain - black small second hand. Railroad etching on rear side of watch.
Model 6935 - Red plastic case. Small red second hand.
So, I was wrong when I stated that a Mickey Mouse watch should not have a railroad design on the case back.
The watch in question, however, does not match any of these watches. It has a sweep second hand and the dial is in a different style. I also still question why it is in a box for "The Conductor" by Westclox, with a Westclox model number on the box. |
